Lombardy-a regional Italian cuisine
The regional cuisine of Lombardy is heavily based upon ingredients like maize, rice, beef, pork, butter, and lard. Although it does not appear appetizing, it is a very popular and commonly eaten cuisine in Italy. Most people think Italy's foods and recipies are based around pastas with red sauce and meatballs, but this cuisine proves otherwise. Italy is known for its' regional, cultured cuisines.

As said in our first post, Italian food brings things like chicken parm and pasta into mind. Not many American people think "seafood" when they think of Italy. But in reality, Italy is known for their very Italian based seafood. All different kinds of fish and other seafood are on almost every Italian menu when in Italy. This fish, also known as "Italian salt cod" is one of Italy's most popular seafood and Italian people's most well-liked as well. -erin

               Tripe; a unique Italian cuisine

Most people do not think of eating a cow's stomach or internal parts when they think of Italian food. Tripe however, is sold off the streets of Italy, the way hot dogs are sold in New York.  It is also served as an entrée in fine dining restaurants throughout the country. -Danielle
